Introduction Letter
Dear Au pair,
We hired an American aupair for Summer 2012 and another aupair from Phillipines for Fall 2012. Now we are seeking a native English speaking aupair for Summer 2013. Besides, I recently started consulting host families around our neighborhood to find au pairs as well. So there will be more than one candidate we would be looking for, both short term and long term.
We are a family of three, living in a flat located 20 min away from City Center. We have a 2,5 years old son who is very friendly and easy to look after. We have a huge garden with a swimming pool, so we spend most of our time outdoors in summer. I am not planning to start working before Fall 2013 so will be at home during summer. Therefore we expect the aupair to act as a big sister to our son instead of a nanny. So the main job scope will be playing, swimming and having fun with him. We expect the aupair to help some household chores which means light house cleaning cause we already have a weekly housekeeper. I will be in charge of cooking but if you are interested and willing to learn, I may teach you some Turkish recipes. Au pair may also find extra jobs at her free time for an extra income. She might give English lessons to neighbor kids since there is a huge demand here for English native speaking teachers.
My husband and I both speak English fluently so we expect the aupair to communicate in English with us. Our son speaks Turkish and English as mothertongue since he has been growing with foreign aupairs and attending an American school here in Istanbul.
We live in the biggest city of Turkey, called Istanbul. Unlike its reputation, Turkey is a very modern, democratic and secular country. Women have rights and freedom unlike other Islamic countries. So Turkey is no different than any other European country, indeed our life style is very close to all Mediterranean countries like Spain, Italy and Greece. Istanbul as being a very ancient city, has over 18 million population, very cosmopolitan, busy city wellknown with its historical places and fun nightlife. Istanbul is the only city in the world that has two continents inside, it combines Europe and Asia. All I can say is maybe you dont prefer to come to Turkey but before making a decision, I suggest you google Istanbul and have more idea about what you might accept or refuse!
If you are interested in our profile, please send me a message. I will respond the candidates matching our criteria.

Although our house is very close to the city center, we live in one of the greenest areas of Istanbul. We live in a flat with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. We share the garden and swimming pool with neighbors who are very friendly and most of them have aupairs as well. We will provide the aupair a room with tv and pc with internet access. Job Description
Aupair will have app 2 hours of free time after lunch and free day will be set upon mutual agreement but would definitely be a weekend day. You may also spend time with other American Au pairs in the neighborhood.
We expect the aupair to be our son's playmate instead of being a guardian. TV and computer games are not an option for us to keep the child busy. We expect the aupair to spend quality time with our son and play interactive, creative games together. Although the aupair programme is a cultural exchange instead of a formal employment, all sides must remember that the kid's needs come first and the aupair's attention and focus should always be on him during working hours. Therefore previous childcare experience is vital for us! Honesty and trust are also very important for us since we will accept and treat the aupair as a family member.
