We are a family of 4 living just south of Boston Massachusetts, USA seeking an au-pair for a 10-12 month term to watch over twin boys ages 6. We are an active family in need of an active, au-pair who enjoys working hard and playing hard. The children are terrific, respectful, active boys who are entering their first year of primary school. We have had domestic nannies, but were hoping to broaden our children's international culture by inviting an Au-Pair from abroad to stay with us.

We live in a modest house by most suburban US standards, but it is quite comfortable and across from the ocean / bay.
The au-pair would have a private bedroom / private bathroom that may not be small by European standards (10 'x 9') but we consider it small. We would provide cable TV, internet connectivity, linens, sundries etc. Possibly a vehicle for part-time use. We have a tournament-level, lighted clay tennis court which we convert to an ice skating rink in the winter months. No swimming pool, but the beach is very close. Even though Duxbury, Massachusetts, US is a suburban town 45 minutes south of Boston, Duxbury and the surrounding Plymouth area offers plenty of adventures and activities and is also a historically significant part of the United States (the first anglo settlers - "Pilgrims" landed in our bay). Job Description

40-45 Hours per week, but could be less. It depends on the fluctuating needs. It would not exceed 45 hours per week though. The times during the day which the au-pair would be needed would be beginning when the children get out of school in the afternoon approximately 2:30 pm until bed time at approximately 8:30 pm, but may include days where the hours are between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm if one needs to stay home from school or there is a holiday at school. The times are flexible, but generally speaking, you (the Au-pair) would have most days until 2:30 pm to yourself. Some weekend days (occasionally), but again, no more than 45 hours per week (unless you wanted to arrange extra work for yourself for extra money). The boys are old enough where they do quite a bit for themselves, but will still need help with school work when they get home from school, light meal preparation and bed time (although we would probably be around most often to put them to bed as that would be our preference). There is a school bus that picks them up and drops them off at the house, but we'd need somebody with driving license / driving skills to be able to take them to school if needed and to the store. Light grocery shopping and the children's laundry (as well as your own). We would like our children to be very involved in household chores (cleaning up after themselves and cleaning / organizing in general), however they will need direction and a plan which you will help with. We do not want to raise entitled / coddled children and expect them to learn work ethic. Hopefully, a prospective Au-Pair will bring similar work ethic and help bring that out in the children. Athletic and / or active candidates would be preferred, but those who have passion for arts / creativity or children would be great as well.
We are an active family who engages in sports, beach, boating etc .. As a former teaching professional, I teach the boys tennis lessons along with others at our tennis court. Any tennis experience may prove to be a good fit, but definitely is not the foremost criteria. The foremost criteria would be someone who is responsible, capable and caring to our two boys who you undoubtedly will be drawn to once you meet them.
