Introduction Letter

Dear au pair,

We would love to welcome you within our family in Brisbane, Australia! I (the mother) am off work so I am looking for someone to give me a hand with the children and around the house. Our house is very large. We have a beautiful recently landscaped backyard with a pool that backs onto a forest park (Mt Coo-tha - has nature tracks) as well as a deck overlooking a lovely view with mountains in the distance. The house is very private with lots of trees around it. We are in Chapel Hill, 15-30 mn by car/bus to the University of Queensland campus (pool, tennis, running tracks, bars etc...) as well as other lovely bustling areas such as Paddington, Toowong or Indooroopilly, and 30 mn to the City.

The nicest thing about Brisbane is that there are so many amazing places to visit and activities to do nearby for a day or a week-end. Great beach-side towns with atmosphere, surfing, SCUBA diving and bushwalks include Byron Bay, the Sunshine Coast or the Gold Coast. Nearby are also beautiful mountainous national parks with eucalyptus forest or rainforest and interesting wildlife, with plenty of scenic campgrounds (such as Brisbane Forest park, Glasshouse Mountains/Maleny, Girraween NP, Mt Tamborine area, Mt Warning area). Or one can go four-wheel driving and camp on the beach on large sandy island national parks (Moreton Island, Stradbroke Island, Cooloola NP).

The second nicest thing about Brisbane is its subtropical climate:-) Winters are very mild and dry (we wear shorts in the day but it can get cool at night); summers can get very warm at times but our pool is refreshing and the house is breezy (the bottom floor stays cool), the in-between seasons are incredibly pleasant.

We've lived in different places (UK, France, Germany, Sydney) and Brisbane is by far our favourite and the most "liveable" place we've lived!

We have had au pairs stay with us before and I can give you their contact details as a reference. We would really want you to enjoy your time here. The young ladies we've had stay with us have become our friends and we keep in contact with them. They love the kids! We have really welcomed them as part of our family while of course completely accepting that they wanted a separate social life as well - and we would do the same for you.

We live on the top floor of the house and you would have the whole bottom floor to yourself - with a large rumpus room, a bedroom and a bathroom. You would have your own flatscreen TV and DVD player (huge DVD collection to choose from!), wi-fi internet.

Job Description

I (the mother) am off work so I am looking for someone to give me a hand with the children and around the house with cooking and tidying up (we have weekly cleaners so nothing too extreme).
We are looking for a caring, intelligent, open-minded, responsible, easygoing young woman with a good sense of humour and who likes to have fun and play with little kids. Some full-time experience with young children is preferred (references please). Must speak good English. French speakers welcome. Driver license required.
