Dear Family,

I am graduating from high school this June and am taking a gap year before attending Harvard College in the fall of 2013. I have taken French throughout high school and would like to work as an Au Pair in France to gain a deeper cultural understanding and improve my French. I am the oldest of the four children in my family (I have a 16 year old brother, a 13 year old sister, and a 10 year old brother). I have grown up in a small village in rural upstate New York. I love children and have spent my summers working at a summer camp teaching various activities (lacrosse to kayaking!) to children aged 7-13. I would really love the opportunity to experience life in another country while taking care of children. Ideally, I would work for 10-12 months before going to college next fall. Though I have never been an Au Pair before, I have been surrounded by younger children throughout my life. I have been a summer camp counselor for the past two summers working approximately 20 hours/week for 6 weeks. Growing up, I spent the summers in Massachusetts with my grandparents and younger cousins. I was the oldest and I was always the organizer- we played school, horse, family, everything! I love playing with and teaching children and view myself as a responsible person who is capable of entertaining children and having fun.
