I want to first of all say that I think it is wonderful you are considering getting an AuPair for your home! It is an experience that means so much for both the host family and the AuPair.
The reason why I was interested in being an AuPair is because is is a perfect way to bine my love of children and desire to visit another culture. I have always been fascinated with the diversity in our world which has made me want to bee a world citizen. To me there is such beauty in knowing about another way of life and being able to appreciate each and every culture for its own special qualities. I have never been an AuPair before. In my past years though I have spent a great amount of time taking care of children and tutoring them as well. I have worked in a private home daycare where I was the only worker for about 6 kids from ages 3 months-7 years of age. In this daycare I also did preschool work with the children of that age and helped pottey train as well.
In my college I worked with children of young ages and learned how they developed physically and mentally during their school years. In this time I also worked in a lab school working hands on with children and studying their behavior and learning how to effectively teach children of school age.
Also I have spent many years providing babysitting for families. The children would be any age and of any amount. Sometimes if needed I would stay overnight or for extended amounts of time.
