First, thank you so much for taking the time to read my profile. My name is Amanda and I am 27 years old. I was born and raised in Westland, Michigan and have lived in Chicago, Illinois for the past 3 years. I was blessed to grow up with a very large, loving, supportive family. I am very close to all of my cousins, aunts, my brother and uncles and especially to my grandmother. We went on many family vacations when I was a child; I have seen almost every state in America and have a million precious memories from every trip. My parents divorced when I was 10 and I lived with my mother, but my father lived very close to me. I went to college at Central Michigan University where I studied Theatre and Interpretation. After college I continued my education and obtained a degree in Medical Assisting. I worked for 4 years in Dermatology when I decided I was unhappy. I quit my job to do something I always enjoyed doing; taking care of children. I would love the opportunity to take my skills abroad to share with a different culture while learning from a different family (I have learned so much from my own; I feel most of what makes us who we are es from what we learned from our families).

I started working with children from a young age bye babysitting for families in my neighborhood. In high school, I had a job with a family watching their 2 children after school. I would help them with their homework, give them a snack and keep them entertained until their parents would get home from work. In college, I worked odd babysitting jobs to make extra money and for 2 summers I was a live-in nanny for one of my professors who had 2 sons. He and his wife both taught and traveled with work during the summer so for up to 2 weeks at a time I would be solely responsible for the boys. I have also worked as camp counseler for a science and nature camp and have worked in a day-care. I currently work as a nanny for a family with a one year old son, Hayden. Everyday with him is different, and everyday is fun. I have helped him learn to walk, I prepare his meals, do his laundry and help him with neck exercises (he has torticollis). I come up with ways to make learning and developing fun; I make finger paints, we sing and dance to preschool songs, I've been teaching him animal noises when we go to the zoo, the parts of his body, and how to climb on playground equipment. I try to instill good manners and habits in children from a young age; Hayden knows not to hit because it hurts people, not to pinch the puppy, and that we wash our hands before and after we eat. I have grown to care for him very much and I love watching him grow close to me each day.
