Letter to the family

My name is Mia and I am 24 years old. I currently live alone, but come from a relatively large family of my mother, father, two older brothers, and a younger sister. At the moment, I am in my final years of University which I am doing online in hopes of finishing sooner. I would love to be an Au Pair because, when I was younger - I was a part of a military family which for a child from ages 10 to 18 was quite hard not having my family around. I had a babysitter who I loved and kept near and dear to my heart, she helped pick up the pieces that I was missing from my parents being gone often. And, she truly made an impact on my life that I would enjoy doing for others who may need it. I am prepared and well aware that this puts me in a position of being a big sister for children as well as a caregiver - through the good and bad growing stages, I want to make a positive impact on children's lives. I would describe myself as an open-minded, hardworking, easy-going, and dedicated person. I'm extremely outgoing and allow that to help with making anyone who is shy or reserved more comfortable. From my high school years leading to my college academic career, I have worked with kids of all ages, as well as children with unique special needs; which has helped me understand cues that most wouldn't.

Experience

Over the years, I have developed multiple personal skills and abilities that allow me to perform my duties as an Au Pair to the best abilities. I have learned the concept of patience, understanding the unknown, and the overall ideas of different families' cultures, traditions, and customs. It's more than being a full-time nanny, it's about being completely selfless and giving your all for the children you are taking care of. I would like to become an Au Pair abroad because in order to learn the idea of surviving and living - it means you have to adapt and thrive in new environments that are foreign to you. Au pair-ing is the perfect way to combine working and studying abroad. It gives the ability to have a secure job while advancing in foreign languages, customs, and overall travel.
