My name is Ashley Sheehan. I am currently a 4th year Speech and Language Therapy student at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio in the States. At 21-years-old I have been watching kiddos since I was 12-years-old, children ranging in age from infants to a 10-year-old with Autism who uses a trach-tube to help him breathe to a teenager with Down's Syndrome. I have been learning so much as of late in class about the language development of children, so, while I have a firm belief in the fact that "play is the work of children," I love to incorporate educational opportunities in said play.

Je suis dans ma semestre deuxième de français en l'université. Je sais seulement un peu de français, mais j'adore la langue.

Yo tomé tres años de español en la escuela secundaria. Yo sé solamente un poco de español tambien, pero yo volví de El Salvador dos semanas en el pasado donde yo practiqué mucho. =]

Last school year I studied abroad in Northern Ireland, and when I traveled around Europe for Spring Break, I officially caught the "travel bug". Now I travel to experience new environments and cultures as much as I can! As mentioned above in the Spanish portion, I just returned from a mission trip to El Salvador just 2 weeks ago. Before Ireland all I knew was the USA; now I cannot imagine life without experiencing and appreciating different cultures.

Experiência com crianças

As mentioned above, I have been babysitting children since I was a preteen, and have loved it ever since. I have experience with a wide range of ages - I have cared for itty bitty infants, toddlers, primary school-aged, and teenagers; (I even "sat" for a grandma once!) I have 4 siblings, 2 older and 2 younger, so I love the bigger-family atmosphere. I have never been an Au Pair before, but it sounds so intriguing! One of the girls I studied with in Ireland became an Au Pair in Italy and I am pretty sure every one of us, her colleagues, was a wee bit jealous of her good fortune. [o;
