Dear Family,

I am Saru Simkhada, a 21 year-old (female) Nepali student. Although I currently live in Kathmandu, where I am pursuing my undergraduate studies in arts, I am actually from Pipara, Simra. Compared to Kathmandu(Capital City of Nepal), Pipara is a small town situated in Bara District of Nepal.

I have an extended family of 10 members including my parents, five elder sisters, elder brother and my sister in law. At the moment, I would like to take some time out to have a different life experience, and to have time to calmly reflect on my future professional orientation. To this end, I think spending a year abroad would be particularly interesting.

My first language is, of course, Nepali, and I am also fluent in English. I started learning English in primary school, and it was also the language of instruction in the secondary school I attended.
I can write and speak an intermediate level of German. Nevertheless, I am aware that learning a language within a classroom context is by itself, inadequate.

To talk about my child care experiences, I have looked after children in both formal and informal contexts. I have provided school tuition to children aged between 5 to 10 years and organized and took part in recreational indoor and outdoor activities like singing, dancing, playing games, role playing, drawing, painting, and narrating stories. Not to forget, I have helped my sisters look after their children since birth. Also, I spend a lot of time playing with our neighbor’s siblings. So I can say that I sincerely enjoy spending time with children.

In my leisure, I take pleasure in the simple things in life. I enjoy being outdoors, being with my friends, going for walks, visiting places I have not been to, and reading a good book. I also enjoy dancing and making art and crafts for children.

As far as preferences are concerned, I am looking for a live-in arrangement with a host family that would be happy to have me stay with and work for them for at least 1 year. I would also prefer looking after children aged between 1 to 10 years. Lastly, I am quite flexible and would be available on all working days including holidays as well.

I would be happy to have the opportunity to speak with you; to answer whatever questions you may have about me or my childcare experiences; to learn more about your family; your interests and to know more about what you expect from the au pair arrangement.
