Australia

Australia does not have a special aupair programm.They offer the Working Holiday Program.

How to apply for a visa:

You can apply the visa over the internet or you can contact the relevant Australian visa office for your country.

You have to insure yourself private. With the exception if there is a special health insurance arrangement between Australia and your country.

Minimum 6 months and maximum 18 months.

Holidays:

If you stay for 6 months you are entitled a week of paid holiday. At least you have a day and a half off in the week.

The aupair must bear the travel cost herself/himself. Host families can bear the expenses if they want

Allowed countries:

Au Pairs from outside the European Union need a Visa to allow them to work. Please, contact the nearest French Consulate/Embassy to be sure you are eligible (you need to be a student in the current year and have studied French in school)

Au pairs from EU-countries only need a passport or an identify card.

Au pairs from non-EU-countries have to handle the formalities in their country.

How to apply for a visa:

The Au pair has to fill the copies of "Contract relating to an au pair placement subject to the European Agreement on Au pair Placement" and has to send them to the family. The family must attend the formalities for example inscribe the au pair in a language course in France.

 US American passport holders cannot go to the UK as Au pairs

Au pairs from EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland do not need a visa.

Ireland

Age:

Two days off per week and one week of paid holidays per six months.

Allowed countries:

Only the au pairs from EU countries or au pairs from Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein can come to Ireland as an au pair.

Au pairs from EU countries and au pairs from Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein don`t need any work permit and only have to register with the Irish police when they arrive.

For au pairs coming from other countries it is possible to obtain a student visa if the prospective applicant is registered to study English at an language school.

Students have to support themselves whilst studying. They may have aPart-time which cannot be more than 25 hours per week.

The immigration officials at the entry point however will always have the right to refuse entry should they believe the student is actually intending to work full-time.

The Italian Government changed its immigration law in June 2004 such that Italian families are currently allowed to hire only nationals from EU countries to serve as their aupair or nanny. Au pairs from the EU do not need a work permit to enter Italy as an au pair.

Au Pairs from EU as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland may ask their local Health Insurance to issue an European Health Insurance Card.

 Au Pairs from other states may contact the Italian embassy or consulate in their home country to get to know if their national health insurance is also valid in Italy.

Au pairs from Australia and New Zealand are allowed to work on a working holiday visa for 12 months.
