Dear host family,
First of all, thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I am so grateful for the chance to meet you, therefore, I think that I should also introduce myself.
My name is Barbara. I am 22. In Croatia, I live with my mother and my stepfather. The place where I live is called Trsteno. It could be defined as a smaller village near Dubrovnik, which is very well known for its beautiful location and many interesting spots. Sea is what makes it even more attractive. I do not have siblings. My family, overall, is not that huge. For 4 years I attended school for tourism in Dubrovnik. Later I worked in a restaurant and as an animator with kids in Valamar hotel in Dubrovnik.
If I had to describe myself I would use words such as responsible, loyal, adventurous, honest and also reliable. I like to have fun but when it is time to be serious and work I switch to that mode. I can easily fit into any situation and adapt to any situation that is in front of me and always try to make the best out of every situation.
In my free time I like to workout, read, in the summer swimming is one activity that brings me a lot of joy. Music is also very important to me. I listen to the songs in english mostly, but in my playlist you can find spanish and croatian songs too. I have a huge passion for traveling and learning languages. I am excellent at cooking and baking. I can draw and sing very well. Judo, karate, basketball, badminton, voleyball, zumba are some of the sports I used to train before. I still like to workout and go for a walk and run. Throughout my whole life I have spent a lot of time with kids even tho I do not have any kids or siblings, we have a lot of friends whose kids needed to be taken care of. My aunt adopted one boy when he was still a small baby.I have spent a lot of time with him. I enjoy spending time with kids and teaching them. I speak english and croatian fluently. I can speak Spanish, but for sure, not as fluently as English. I want to travel as much as possibble. I have been to Italy(Ancona), Barcelona , Athens(Greece overall), Montenegro, many places in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I have a lot of family in Herzegovina my roots are from there and I can freely say that I am Herzegovian.
The reason why I want to go to America as an au pair is beacuse I want to Experience the life there and culture of people who live there. I want to spend time with children, teach them whatever I can, I want to help anybody I can and make people around me happy, including myself. Living abroad has always been my dream. I think this would be a great opportunity to meet new people and country.
I would be very happy to spend time with new family. I also hope we can develop good relationship and spend a lot of quality time together.
