Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Dear Future Au Pair,

Hello from the southwestern part of Germany, where our lively household is eagerly awaiting its next "big sister"!
We’re Juergen, Jacqueline, Philipp, Christopher, and Eric — a warm, busy, and active family who loves welcoming new faces into our home.

Over the past 13 years, we’ve hosted 15 wonderful au pairs, and let us tell you, each of them has added something unique to our family story. Some still visit us, which says a lot about the connections we build.

Our home is in Durmersheim, a charming town south of Karlsruhe. Whether you’re a fan of serene landscapes like the Rhine Valley and the Black Forest or the excitement of cities like Heidelberg, Freiburg, Stuttgart, or even Strasbourg in France, you’ll find your perfect mix of adventure and relaxation here.

We’re looking for an au pair who’s ready to embrace German culture, help out with the boys, and become an integral part of our family. Think of it as being a fun, responsible older sister! Ideally, you’d join us in July 2025 and stay for 10 to 12 months, but we’re flexible and open to discussing what works best for you.

We want you to have the best experience possible, so we’ll plan our weekends in a way that gives you time to explore or simply recharge. Of course, if you’d like to join us on family outings, you’re always welcome — we promise it won’t be all museums and grocery shopping (unless that’s your idea of fun).

If you’re from outside the European Union (or a few other countries), it’s important to have basic German knowledge (at least A1 level) to apply for a visa. Don’t worry, though — our English is pretty solid, so communication won’t be a problem as you sharpen your German skills.

If you love kids, enjoy new adventures, and can see yourself fitting into our lively (but lovable) chaos, we’d love to hear from you. Let’s make the next chapter in our au pair journey one to remember!

Looking forward to meeting you,
Juergen, Jacqueline, Philipp, Christopher, and Eric

Job Description

Joining our family as an au pair means stepping into a lively household where your main mission is simple: keep the boys happy, engaged, and (mostly) out of trouble while we’re at work or tackling appointments. Here's what your day-to-day might look like:

Playtime! Whether it’s building towers, singing songs, or chasing after Eric’s boundless energy, fun is guaranteed.

Strolls in the park – a great way to get some fresh air while keeping the boys entertained.

Helping with the essentials: getting the boys dressed, whipping up some simple meals (bonus points if it involves pasta or pizza!), helping with homework and easy household chores like cleaning dishes or tidy up the boys’ toys and lending a hand with Philipp's feeding and nappy changes.

The mornings are yours to enjoy while the boys are at school (unless it’s holiday time, of course). Evenings? You’re usually off-duty and free to relax or explore your surroundings!

If you love kids, have a playful spirit, and enjoy a bit of organized chaos, we’d love for you to join us and become part of our family.
