Letter to the family

I am a student in first year at Durham University, currently studying English Literature. My greatest passion in life is literature, I love to read, as well as write my own books. I also love to teach, I have been teaching English Literature and English Language to both native English speakers but also to students in Japan, as I am half Japanese and can speak to an advanced level. Whilst I am still deciding what I would like to do with my life, I am considering teaching primary school or secondary school children, as I love to work with kids. It brings me a lot of joy to see the children I tutor improve in their studies, and seeing their confidence grow. I am also a passionate cook, as my mother has always encouraged me to develop my skills and broaden my palate. Food is a very important aspect of Japanese culture, so it has always had a place in our home, and whilst I can cook a large variety of Japanese food, I love to explore food from other cultures too, for example, Italian and Spanish dishes. I would love to improve my cooking skills wherever I go and learn how to cook the native dishes. I am a warm and happy person, and I like to take care of people, and I believe this is reflected in the choices I make in life.

Experience

I would like to become an Au Pair or home sharer because I like to travel and gain new experiences across the world. I like to learn about different cultures, languages and customs, but most of all I love to meet people and make relationships with people across the world, learning about their lives, as well as helping them. My sister has a learning disability, so I have always helped my family with raising her and helping her with her studies and I have found that I really enjoy helping others. Becoming an Au Pair or home sharer would be the perfect way to combine those two passions.
