Letter to the family

My name is Maria Luisa and I’m writing to share my interest in becoming your au pair. I’m from Brazil and I’m truly excited about the opportunity to be part of a family abroad while doing something I genuinely love—caring for children and helping them grow.

I have hands-on experience working with kids, including six months as a child care worker where I especially supported children with special needs, such as autism. I helped them with school assignments, daily routines, and created fun, engaging activities tailored to their needs. That time really deepened my patience, empathy, and love for working closely with children in a supportive and understanding way.

I’ve studied English for four years and have two certificates, so I feel confident communicating and helping your children with their language skills or homework. People often describe me as kind, easygoing, and very organized person. I’m someone who’s happy to help with daily routines, light housework, and anything that makes the family’s day run more smoothly.

Outside of childcare, I have a few hobbies I’d love to bring into the home—like cooking (I really enjoy trying new recipes!), and I’m a big fan of great movies and TV shows, which I think can be a fun and cozy way to bond with kids during downtime. I also hold a valid driver’s license, so I’m happy to help with school drop-offs, errands, or weekend activities.

Most of all, I want to create a safe, supportive, and happy environment for your children while also learning about your culture and sharing a bit of my own. I would love to get to know you better and hopefully become a part of your family’s story.

Experience

For as long as I can remember, I’ve dreamed of living abroad—experiencing life in a new place, surrounded by a different culture, language, and rhythm. England, especially, has always held a special place in my heart. I’ve admired the culture, history, the language, and the beautiful mix of tradition and modern life. The idea of being able to live there—not just as a visitor, but as part of a local family—feels like something incredibly special.

Becoming an au pair represents a refreshing new beginning in my life. It’s not just a job to me—it’s a chance to grow in a meaningful way. To step out of my comfort zone, to connect deeply with others, and to expand my understanding of the world and myself. I want to be more compassionate, more open, and more present in each moment—and I know that living abroad and caring for children will teach me all of that and more.

Helping children grow, learn, and feel supported is something I’ve found a lot of purpose in. I’ve already worked for six months as a child care worker, including with children who have special needs like autism. That experience changed me—it taught me patience, empathy, and how much of a difference a kind presence can make in someone’s life. I want to continue offering that same energy to a new family, while learning from you and your children in return.

This isn’t just a job opportunity for me—it’s the beginning of something deeply meaningful. I hope I can bring warmth, reliability, and a positive spirit into your home, while living a dream that’s been in my heart for years.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I’d be honored to join your family and start this beautiful new chapter with you
