Letter to the family
Dear host family,
first of all I would like to introduce myself. My name is Laura, I live in Switzerland. I completed our 11 years from compulsory school and and four years at FMS, which is a secondary school with various specializations, whereby I focused on pedagogics and have already completed various internships in the field of education. I graduated in June 2024. Ever since I was a child, I have wanted to accompany and support children on their journey through life. Through various internships I've realized that I cannot identify 100% with the Swiss school system at the moment, that's the reason, why I take a year off and want to see more of the world.
My friends and family always say that I am a child lover, but I also love animals, nature and good food. I would describe myself as a bit shy at the beginning, but as soon as you get to know me better and I feel comfortable, that changes quickly. I would describe myself as well-considered but lively. I love to sing, dance, laugh and learn new things.
I would also love to be part of the family and not just an employee, as I am also very close with my own family.
My desire to become an au pair comes from my love of children and my interest in other cultures. I want to explore the world, gain new experiences and spend time with children.
One of my gifts is to get along quickly with children, which I am sure is due to my 13 year old sister. I am responsible, caring, patient and understanding. Whenever I have looked into the eyes of children, they have always had that look that is hard to describe but every parent knows.
In my free time I like to read, dance, sing and travel. I also danced Rock'n'Roll for 10 years, but when I started with the FMS (Fachmittelschule), with the main focus on pedagogic, I set other priorities. But now it's time to live and gain experience.
Through the FMS I learned to play the piano, became a snowboard instructor and was able to gain a lot of experience in childcare and teaching through a variety of internships. I also worked in a daycare center for 3 months. These experiences were really valuable. Even before that, I was able to gain a lot of experience through babysitting and my sister, who is seven years younger than me.
- I have been studying English for 10 years and would like to achieve C1 in the next few years.
- I have had French for 8 years and would also like to achieve C1.
- Swiss German is my mother tongue, but we grow up with the German language and therefore I master it as if it is my mother tongue.
- I also had one year of Italian, but I only have a basic knowledge of it.
I hope to gain many new experiences, find a lovely host family, improve my French and have a great time with you, as part of the family.
