Letter to the family
Dear Host Family,
My name is Lia, I’m 19 years old, and I come from Andorra, a small country in the Pyrenees between Spain and France. I’m currently visiting my parents in Indonesia, but I usually live in Andorra and have spent the last two years living in the United States (Iowa and Florida), where I studied and experienced a completely different culture.
I consider myself a responsible, cheerful, and energetic person. I have always been independent and mature for my age, and I really enjoy meeting new people and adapting to different environments. I speak Catalan and Spanish as native languages, I’m fluent in English, and I have a basic level of French. I also have a driver’s license, and I don’t smoke or drink.
? Experience with Children
I have a 15-year-old younger brother, and I’ve been very involved in taking care of him while growing up — from helping with homework to just spending time together. I love being around kids and I naturally connect with them. I’m patient, active, and always looking to make things fun, creative, and safe. Even though I haven’t worked as a formal babysitter, I’ve had plenty of hands-on experience with children thanks to my family and social environment.
? My Interests and Daily Life
I’m passionate about soccer, which I’ve been playing for years — it’s helped me become disciplined, communicative, and a great team player. I also enjoy drawing and creative expression, especially when it comes to relaxing or connecting with others through shared activities. I’m very open to new cultures and ways of living, and I love learning from people around me.
I follow a gluten-free diet because I have celiac disease, but I’m very used to adapting my meals and taking care of myself in that regard.
? Why I Want to Be an Au Pair
Becoming an au pair is not just a job opportunity for me — it’s a chance to live something meaningful. I love the idea of joining a family, becoming part of their daily life, and contributing in a positive way. I’m also very curious about cultural exchange and language immersion, and I believe being an au pair is the perfect experience for someone like me: active, caring, responsible, and open-minded.
? What I Expect From This Experience
I would love to create a genuine bond with the family I stay with. I’m excited to help with the kids, support daily routines, share my language and culture, and also learn from yours. I’m open to any location, but I’m especially interested in returning to the U.S., or exploring Italy, Switzerland, the UK, or Canada.
If you’re looking for a trustworthy, easy-going, and creative au pair who can bring positive energy and reliability into your home, I’d love to get to know you!
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Lia
