Letter to the family

Hi! My name is Amanda and I’m an aupair from Sweden. In August of 2018 I moved over the Atlantic Ocean to become an aupair for a lovely family in Atlanta Georgia. Right now I’ve been living here for 14 months and I’ve had a really good experience so far. I expect to be welcomed and become a part of my host family to create a good bond because I think that’s really important if you’re going to take care of someone’s kids. I have good working ethics and I’m very flexible if needed. Considering that I have worked as an aupair before makes me used to different situations with kids and also having to adapt to the way way each kid works, it’s important to look at them as individuals and help them in a way that favors the kids need.

Experience

Right now I live in Atlanta, Georgia as an aupair for a family with a 5 year old girl and a 8 year old boy. After spending a whole year with them I decided to stay another 9 months as their aupair and will be back home in Sweden by May or June of 2020. I’m really loving my experience as an aupair over here and I have really grown as a person, but I think I can still challenge myself with another adventure as an aupair in another country with a whole different culture.
With my schedule right now I work about 30 hours a week, I don’t take care of the kids in the morning but I do laundry, pick up and dishes when they are in school, then I pick them up when school ends. I always take them to their activities after school and make sure their homework is done, I also make dinner and put them to bed most nights. It’s very rare that I help in the mornings but if they need me I’ll be there to help. My host parents have stuff to do all the time so for them I try to be as flexible as possible and that has helped them out a lot when unexpected changes happen in their work day.
