Letter to the family

My name is Sarah, I am 28 years old. I am an artist, I am flexible and adaptable and smart. I also enjoy creative and outdoorsy past times like painting, working with clay, and taking pictures, or going to parks, museums, hikes, and other adventures. I also love to cook (my favorite dish is easy to eat south indian lentil soup).

I am looking to add to my life and hopefully the lives of others, and I think this is something I could be very good at, given my previous experiences.

I am good with children and have a patient and communicative attitude so I thought au pairing would be a good opportunity for me. I love learning new things and sharing them with others, and I have thick skin and a patient attitude. I also pride myself on my ability to create space for the energy of children, but also having a calm energy myself that allows for tranquility.

Experience

I was a camp counselor at an art camp supervising classes of children from K-12, during class, recess, and class trips. This was a summer camp based on art and history, and I was frequently moved by the children's perpectives and progress. I will never forget watching a student of around 7 years old come out of her shell during a dance/movement class, from refusing to try on the first day to dancing beautifully, eyes closed, the last day. If I could have anything close to that effect on more children I want to take the opportunity.

I have yet to be an official Au Pair but have the camp experience as well as babysitting experience in children from ages 2-14. I still talk to the family I did most babysitting for, and have even stayed with them in The Netherlands where they now live. Multiple people whose children I've taken care of have recommended this route to me.

I want to be an Au Pair because of my enjoyment of children and general home life, but I also would like to see if I can create a community elsewhere, as I still live in my hometown and I feel as if I have out grown it as one outgrows a beloved pair of shoes.
