Letter to the family

Hi! I'm Fiona, and I’m excited about the opportunity to live in a new environment and connect with people from different cultures!

I am an international student in the US, currently a college freshman majoring in Business Management. I’m eager to connect with new people, experience a different culture, and contribute to a meaningful living environment. My diverse experiences, including traveling to India, Australia, Thailand, Jordan, and Sri Lanka, have taught me to appreciate and adapt to various cultures, and I’m excited to bring this mindset into your home.

I am particularly interested in becoming an Au Pair and participating in a home-share program with the elderly because I believe that offering companionship and support to those in need is deeply rewarding. I have experience caring for my grandmother, who had Alzheimer’s, which taught me valuable lessons in patience, empathy, and the importance of creating a caring environment. This experience, coupled with my independent living for the past three years, has prepared me to assist with daily tasks while also offering company and conversation to an elderly host.

While I don’t have direct experience working with individuals with special needs, I am more than willing to learn and adapt to any responsibilities or requirements. My background in working with children in daycare and youth in the justice system has given me strong communication and caregiving skills.

I am confident that my kind, responsible, and respectful nature makes me an ideal candidate to become part of your home. I would love the opportunity to support and learn from you while sharing meaningful moments together.

Experience

While I haven't yet worked as an Au Pair or in a home-share program, I have valuable caregiving experience, especially with my grandmother, who had Alzheimer’s. This experience taught me patience, empathy, and how to provide both emotional and physical support. Additionally, working with children in daycare and youth in the justice system has helped me build strong communication and caregiving skills.

I believe the best way to truly experience and understand new cultures is by connecting with people and forming meaningful relationships. Becoming an Au Pair and participating in a home-share program with the elderly would allow me to do just that—offering companionship and support while immersing myself in a new cultural environment. It would be an opportunity to learn, grow, and share my time and skills in a way that benefits both me and my host.

This role aligns perfectly with my personal values of empathy, cultural exchange, and caregiving, and I look forward to the opportunity to build meaningful connections and broaden my perspectives.
