Letter to the family

Hi! My name is Marlette, but I go by Marley. I want to be an Au Pair because it combines 2 things I love: Children and traveling!

I graduated from university not too long ago and decided to become a teacher to pursue my passion for inspiring and caring for children. I am a tutor, as well as a support chat moderator because I love helping people, and am going to start substitute teaching. It's a lot of jobs; I like to work! They all deal with socializing too. I am a social butterfly :).

Besides being with children for work, I am also the eldest of 4 siblings, 2 sisters and 2 brothers. I have experience with both boys and girls and with all stages of life. I helped raise and take care of them, from changing their diaper, cleaning after them, playing with them, helping them with homework, and supporting them with life struggles. They are currently ages 21, 16, 13, and 8. They grow up so fast sadly! I often have the youngest with me everywhere I go.

I know that taking care of children also comes with its challenges. I believe my experience with interacting with children in a work environment and a casual home environment has given me a better perspective on how to deal with such challenges.

Experience

While I work to gain my credentials, I believe that becoming an Au Pair and caring for those of another nationality would give me even more valuable learning experience of working with all children, not just from America. I believe that a teacher is more than just a person who gives out homework and grades, it is a person who genuinely cares for and understands their students no matter their background. It would also give me more insight on the daily lives of citizens of another country.

Also, unfortunately, Americans have a bad reputation in some countries. When people meet me during my travels, they are often shocked to find out I'm not rude or lazy as the media portrays haha! Therefore, I also wish to continue being a respectful and polite guest in the country and home I am visiting :).
