Letter to the family
Hello! My name is Frida, I am 20 years old and I come from a suburb in Norway called Bekkestua.
I come from a family consisting of myself, my mother Cathrine, my father Johannes, and my older sister Tuva. I am an outgoing and adventurous girl who enjoys challenges. I recently travelled to through various countries in South-East Asia with three friends to explore the world outside of little Norway. It is one of the coolest things I have ever done, but now I want to live in a foreign country to learn a new language, experience a new culture, meet new people, and most importantly, step outside of my comfort zone. I've always loved France, and I have travelled to both Paris and the south of France several times. I think I inherited my fascination with France from my mother, as she went to Paris at the age of 18 to work as an aupair and really enjoyed it. She now works as a French teacher at a high school (Lycée) here in Norway and has always wanted my sister and I to learn to learn French :)
As a person, i am caring, reliable, hardworking, and patient, and I'm not afraid of a challenge. I've also been told that I am organized, responsible, and good at adapting to new environments - qualities that I believe are important for an aupair. I love being around children and I have done a lot of babysitting over the years. After finishing high school, I got a job at a kindergarten in my hometown, where I've been working a little over six months. It's a job I've truly loved. There, I've worked with children aged 1-3 and 4-6, so I'm comfortable with children of all ages. However, I have spent most of my time in the toddler department, so I have good experience with toddlers and everything that comes with. In addition to working at the kindergarten, I've also babysat several of the children from the kindergarten in my free time.
I've done many different sports over the years, such as football, horseback riding, handball, dancing, skiing and gymnastics. I also enjoy arts and crafts like painting and drawing, which has been useful in the kindergarten when planning creative activities for the children. I like to cook, and I am not picky at all when it comes to trying new types of food. I studied French in school for six years, so I can understand and communicate in simple sentences. I believe this gives me a good foundation to learn the language quickly, which is one of my main goals with coming to France. However, I am currently much better at English than French, which is why I chose to write this letter in English. After 11 years of mandatory English lessons in Norway, I took an extra year of advanced English in high school (lycée), so I would say I am fluent.
To me, being an aupair is not just about taking care of children, but also about learning and growing together with the kids and the rest of the family. I hope to be a good support in your daily life while learning more about your language and culture.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my letter. I hope to hear from you!
Cordialement,
Frida
