Dear Host Family,

My name is Allison “Allie” , and I am a 20-year-old from the United States currently taking a gap year from my studies. I was previously a pre-medicine student at Western Washington University, and during this time, I discovered a growing desire to explore more of the world and gain life experience beyond the classroom.

Becoming an au pair is an exciting opportunity for me, not only to work closely with children, but also to immerse myself in a new culture, learn a new language, and grow through independent living. I’ve always believed that the best way to truly understand the world is by stepping outside of your comfort zone and living in someone else’s shoes, and this opportunity allows me to do just that—while contributing meaningfully to a family’s life.

I would be honored to be hosted by a family that values kindness, openness, and cultural exchange. I am a hard-working and responsible individual who doesn’t shy away from challenges. I have eight years of babysitting experience—whether it’s watching over family friends or, most significantly, caring for my younger sister after school while the rest of our family worked. Many of the children I’ve cared for have had special needs, which has given me a deep sense of patience, empathy, and adaptability.

I am confident that I would be a great fit for your family because I bring not only experience and dedication, but also genuine love for working with children. I take pride in creating a safe, nurturing, and fun environment, and I’m excited to form meaningful connections with both you and your children. I’m also more than happy to help with light household duties, schoolwork, or language practice.
