I think experiencing different people and ways of life can really grow a person. Seeing and being a part of another person’s life is an enriching way to learn and connect.

I studied special education for 3 years before changing paths to social work for 2 years where I learned a number of things. I’m not cut out for the academic path (for now) but I also cannot deny that I enjoy working with children and I’m good at it. Factors that make me good at working with kids are my patience, kindness and my ability to communicate with children in an understandable, age appropriate way.

In the past, I volunteered as a chaperone doing weekend trips and activities that focused on being outside and learning how to navigate the city. In my current job I accompany new and prospective parents through pregnancy and the first 6 months of the baby’s life. I have also tutored one-on-one for the past 10 years. Not to mention the unlimited experience in babysitting as the oldest child who only has younger siblings and cousins.
