Letter to the family

Dear Family,

My name is Amelie and I am from the UK. I finish school next year and was planning to study Midwifery as I have always had a passion for caring for other people and would more than anything love to work in an industry that allows me to do this. When looking into midwifery I found I fit a lot of traits that would make a good midwife, I am compassionate, empathetic, calm and patient. I did a lot of research into midwifery, but there was something that just wasn't quite right. I began volunteering at a charity which helps Mothers suffering from post-natal depression, and my role in the charity was looking after their children in the creche while the mothers received service from the charity. This is when I realised that caring for and looking after children was something that I had a natural skill for and something that I would love to spend my time doing.

When I volunteer in the creche I have had multiple of the women who volunteer also compliment on my natural ability to create a calm environment for both them and the infants, and tell me that I have a gift for handling & playing with infants. I have also had instances of mothers requesting their babies to be fed and looked after by me, and have told the creche supervisor they feel relaxed knowing I am with their child, which are compliments that fill me with joy and strengthen my desire to work with children. I also volunteer at a church where I look after the early years children (ages 4-6) on a Sunday morning. I am not particularly religious, but I enjoy looking after the children on a Sunday morning. We do crafts, play games, read books and dance together and I always feel so privileged to have the opportunity to do this. I have also worked as a babysitter for some of the families at this church. I am cheerful and friendly, on top of this I greatly enjoy to do this work/volunteering which is why I think working as an Au Pair would suit me.

I would make a good live in au-pair as I am considerate of others. I am kind and selfless, I love to spend my time and money on others, and I have a very strong understanding of the need to form boundaries and adhere to other people's, I am observant so can often pick up on what different people expect from me. I am tidy & organised, I am a good listener and conversationalist. I enjoy a good time and having fun, and respect that this comes in different forms for different people, which I am eager to experience with different people & families in different cultures.

I hope that you find the perfect Au Pair for you, even if this is not me.

All the best,
Amelie

Experience

I do not yet have an experience being an Au Pair, but as previously described I have experience with children and families. I have volunteered at a charity's creche and at a Church, I have worked as a baby sitter and I have completed work experience in a nursery. During these experiences, me & the children have played, done crafts, danced, sang and read stories together. I have helped provide meals to children, and often when I babysit have calmed & settled them down ready for bed time.

I have some but not have much travelling experience. I have been to France on family holidays, we have been to Normandy, Paris and Dégagnac, and plan to visit Bordeaux in the summer of next year. I have also visited Sunny Beach, Bulgaria. Other than this, I have been almost every seaside town in the UK, which I am so grateful for, however I greatly desire to see the rest of the world and to expand my knowledge by learning about and experiencing different cultures.
