Letter to the family

Hello! My name is Rachel, and I’m a dedicated, patient, and adaptable individual with a strong background in child care and education. I’m excited to find the opportunity to join a warm and welcoming family as an Au Pair or Nanny, where I can contribute to a positive environment while immersing myself in a new culture.

I hold a Master’s degree and undergraduate degree in Psychology, with an aspiration to pursue a PhD in educational and child psychology in the long term. My education has equipped me with valuable insights into child development, behaviour, and emotional well-being, which has shaped my approach to providing nurturing, responsive care.

I have over a year of experience as a one-to-one SEN teaching assistant, supporting children with special educational needs. I’ve also worked as a residential support worker in a children’s care home, assisting children with emotional and behavioral needs. Additionally, my 3 years of experience as a healthcare assistant ensures I can respond effectively in any situation. These roles have helped me build strong, supportive relationships with children, providing them with a safe, caring, and structured environment.

I’m passionate about working with children, as I have seen the effects on those who have experienced trauma or neglect. I believe every child deserves a safe and nurturing environment, and becoming an Au Pair/Nanny is an opportunity for me to share my skills and experience in a home that values compassion and education. This role will also allow me to immerse myself in a new culture and continue my personal and professional growth. I am also committed to supporting parents by providing a reliable, caring, and responsible presence in the home, giving you peace of mind and more time for your personal and professional needs.

Experience

While I haven't formally been an Au Pair, I have a lot of experience working with children and in care (for both elderly and children). I have gained valuable experience working with children through various roles, including as a one-to-one SEN teaching assistant and a residential support worker in a children’s care home. In these positions, I have supported children with emotional, behavioural, and developmental needs, providing a safe, structured environment while helping them build confidence and emotional resilience. My current role also involves providing 24 hour care. I’ve also worked in healthcare, where I developed the skills to handle emergencies and ensure the well-being of children under my care.

Additionally, I served as a bully mentor for 9 years while in school, which sparked my passion for helping others and caring for those in need. This role taught me how to be patient, empathetic, and supportive, qualities that have carried me throughout my career in psychology and child care. The experience of guiding and mentoring others through difficult situations has deeply influenced my desire to pursue a career focused on child development and support.

I’m eager to become an Au Pair/Nanny abroad because it’s a wonderful opportunity to immerse myself in a new culture, gain more hands-on experience with children, and contribute to a family environment in a meaningful way. Living abroad would allow me to further expand my knowledge of child development and psychology, as well as build stronger relationships with both children and their families while supporting them in their day-to-day lives. This role is the perfect way for me to continue growing personally and professionally while sharing my skills and enthusiasm for child care.
