Letter to the family

My name is Molly, I am 19 years old and am doing a gap year before I go to Glasgow University to study English Literature In September 2025. I am travelling to New Zealand on the 16th of February and I am planning to stay in NZ until mid-late June! My date in returning to Scotland is slightly flexible, as I would really like to explore the south of NZ with a friend before I fly back!

I have had experience with childcare in several environments. In school I have had several experiences with being a Big Friendly Girl ( a BFG!) to several younger students. Our role was to help them with homework, to guide them through any difficulties with friendships, to be a friendly face in the corridors and to play with them throughout the school week. I loved it dearly, I find young children to be so entertaining and such good company, they often have such vivid imaginations that the time just flies by!
During school I volunteered at an additional support needs group every week, organising activities for the kids and learnt how to manage any tricky situations.
I have had a lot of babysitting experience, particularly with a family staying locally with a 4 year old boy. I enjoy evenings taking care of him and playing with him before he heads off to bed!
Additionally, my cousin's children are multiplying by the year! So at family events I often watch over them to give their parents a break, and to get to know them through (very) imaginative playing.

I am organised when it comes to work. I am a very detail-oriented person, with a lot of patience, and I work hard to accomplish tasks thoroughly and carefully. I'm a very bubbly person, usually equipped with a smile and cackling laugh! I'd bring a warm and caring personality to the household, with an open mind! I'm sure I will have a lot to learn from whichever family I get to stay with.

Experience

I would love to work with a family to learn more about New Zealand's culture and way of life! I know that who children are surrounded by really shapes them as people, and with the current wildness of the world, I think having good, kind, loving people around them is extremely important. I have a very big heart and love working with kids and getting to know new people so I would just love to get to know a family over in NZ through being an Au Pair and to be a positive influence on the wee ones.
