Dear future host family,

I am María Catalina Fontecha Gómez (but you can call me just Cata or Catalina) and I’m 24 years old. I was born in Bogotá- Colombia which is the capital and most important city in my country. This city has a cultural background and their inhabitants are such lovely and warm people; a funny fun fact about Bogotá is that it has crazy weather such as the cold morning, super hot mid-day and the rainy nights so you have to be ready for everything.

My family is composed of my mom, my dad, my brother, my two sisters and my nephew who is the light of my life; I’m the youngest of all my siblings and I’m currently living just with my mom, my dad lives in the US, one of my sisters in southern Italy and my other two siblings live in a different neighborhood in Bogotá.


Two years ago I graduated from university in Modern Languages with an emphasis in business and digital communication at Universidad EAN, which made me a specialist in business but also in communication in fields such as marketing, social media management and public relations, all this in English, Italian and French . I love languages and immerse myself in new cultures and that’s why I chose that degree, those were 4 amazing years I really enjoyed. This degree opened so many opportunities for me and allowed me to grow as a person and as a professional.
