Letter to the family

Dear Future Host,

My name is Alice, I’m 19 years old and I come from Italy. I’m really excited about the opportunity to become an au pair, as I believe it would be an amazing chance to grow, learn new things, and contribute to a meaningful project.

I want to become an au pair because I enjoy connecting with people and experiencing different cultures. Being in a new environment inspires me, and I’m ready to give my best while also learning as much as I can.

I think you should host me because I’m responsible, open-minded, and always willing to help. I’m also quite adaptable and used to working with both kids and adults in different situations.

Some of my strengths include cooking—especially baking sweets!—and working with children. I studied human sciences in high school, and the last year we focused particularly on childhood development. For several years, I’ve volunteered as an activity leader in my hometown, helping children with homework and playing with them in group activities. In addition, I’ve worked as a waitress in a local bar every summer for the past three years, which has taught me how to handle responsibilities, multitask, and communicate well with people.

These experiences have made me more confident, patient, and able to work well in a team.

Experience

Although I haven’t worked as an au pair before, I’m really excited about the idea of starting this journey abroad. I’ve always enjoyed spending time with children and helping them learn and grow. Over the years, I’ve gained experience through volunteering as an activity leader in my hometown, where I helped kids with homework, played games with them, and organized group activities. These moments made me realize how much I enjoy being around children and support their growth.

I want to become an au pair because I see it as a unique opportunity to live with a family, experience a new culture from the inside, and become a part of a child’s daily life. I’m also really interested in improving my language skills and seeing the world from a new perspective.

Even though this would be my first time as an au pair, I feel ready and motivated. I’m responsible, patient, and enthusiastic, and I’m looking forward to learning as much as I can while giving the best of myself to the family that welcomes.
