Letter to the family
Dear Future Host Family,
My name is Annmarie, and I am beyond excited about the opportunity to become a part of your family as an Au Pair. I am 23 years old and originally from Shaker Heights, Ohio, where I grew up in a lively household as one of five siblings. With four brothers—one older and three younger—I learned early on the importance of patience, adaptability, and teamwork. Family has always been at the heart of who I am, and I believe that’s what has shaped my love for working with children.
This spring, I will graduate from Boston University with a degree in communications, specializing in advertising. During my time at BU, I played NCAA Division 1 women’s ice hockey, an experience that not only fueled my competitive spirit but also strengthened my leadership, resilience, and ability to connect with others. While I initially planned to continue my career by playing professional hockey in Europe, I have decided to step away from the sport. However, my passion for exploring new places remains, and becoming an Au Pair presents the perfect opportunity to immerse myself in a new culture while making meaningful connections.
For the past few summers, I have coached at an elite youth hockey camp, where I’ve had the privilege of mentoring young athletes, guiding them through challenges, and creating a fun and encouraging environment. Alongside my coaching experience, I have spent many years babysitting and, in 2023, worked as a full-time nanny. That summer was particularly meaningful, as I formed a strong bond with the children I cared for—helping with homework, preparing meals, driving them to activities, and, most importantly, making every day an adventure.
What draws me to becoming an Au Pair is the opportunity to combine my passion for working with children with my love for travel and cultural exchange. I am outgoing, social, and eager to immerse myself in new experiences. Whether it’s trying new foods, exploring new places, or embracing different traditions, I thrive in environments where I can learn and grow. At the same time, I value creating a warm and supportive space for children—one where they feel safe, encouraged, and free to be themselves.
Having spent my life in shared living spaces, I understand the importance of respecting boundaries, contributing to a harmonious home, and embracing the dynamics of family life. I am confident that my experience, enthusiasm, and ability to adapt will allow me to be a positive addition to your household. I would love the opportunity to not only care for your children but also become a meaningful part of your family.
I am so looking forward to getting to know you all and embarking on this exciting journey together. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions—I can’t wait to meet you!
Warmest regards,
Annmarie
