Letter to the family

Dear Host Family,

My name is Lilou, I’m 17 years old and currently a high school student in France. I live in a boarding school during the week, which has taught me to be very independent and well-organized. I am bilingual in French and English, and I had the opportunity to travel alone to Canada for three months, where I gained even more maturity, confidence, and adaptability. I also have a younger brother, and I grew up surrounded by au pairs from the age of 2 to 12, so I truly understand what it means to welcome someone into a home and share daily life.

I would love to become an au pair because I genuinely enjoy spending time with children. I love helping them learn, supporting their development, and building a trusting relationship. Being an au pair also represents, for me, a meaningful way to discover a new culture while being part of a family and contributing in a helpful and responsible way.

I believe your family should consider hosting me because I am mature, caring, responsible, and truly motivated. I’ve already done babysitting, and I’m used to managing daily tasks on my own thanks to my experience at boarding school and my many travels. I adapt easily, I’m respectful of routines and house rules, and I always aim to bring positive energy wherever I go.

What qualifies me most for this role is not only my sense of responsibility, but also my experience and love for children. I’m active, creative, patient and attentive. I enjoy teaching, helping with schoolwork, playing, or organizing fun and educational activities. I would be honored to support your family’s daily life and create a strong bond with your children.

After this experience, I plan to continue my studies with the goal of pursuing international law or global studies. Being an au pair is, for me, a step toward growing as a person and preparing for a future that’s open to the world.

Experience

Although I have not yet worked officially as an au pair, I have a lot of personal experience with children. I have a younger brother whom I often take care of, and I’ve also done babysitting for other families. In addition, I grew up with au pairs in my own home from the age of 2 to 12, so I understand both the role of an au pair and what it means to be welcomed into a family.

I would love to become an au pair abroad because I enjoy caring for children and creating a meaningful connection with them. I also want to discover a new culture, improve my language skills, and live an enriching experience in a different country. Being an au pair is, for me, a perfect combination of responsibility, cultural exchange, and personal growth.
