Letter to the family

My name is Jennifer and I am currently working as an au pair in the United States, where I care for two wonderful children, a 9-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl. This experience has been incredibly rewarding — I’ve enjoyed learning about American culture, improving my childcare skills, and becoming more independent. I also drive and help with the children’s daily routines and activities.

As my current program ends in January 2026, I would love the opportunity to continue my cultural exchange journey in Germany. I have a basic level of German (A1) and am very eager to improve my language skills while learning more about German life, traditions, and values.

I believe living with a kind and welcoming family like yours would be a great way to experience Germany firsthand and share my culture in return. I look forward to becoming part of your family and supporting you with your children.

Experience

I have been working as an au pair in the United States since January 2024, caring for two amazing children — a 9-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl. My responsibilities include helping them with their daily routines, preparing meals, assisting with homework, school drop-offs and pick-ups, organizing playtime, and occasionally driving them to activities. I have developed a close bond with the children and enjoy being part of their growth and daily life.

Living with my host family has taught me a lot about American culture and improved my communication, independence, and problem-solving skills. I’ve also had the chance to travel, meet new people, and become more confident in handling different situations.

This experience has deepened my passion for working with children and exploring new cultures, which is why I’m excited to continue my journey as an au pair in Germany.
