Letter to the family

Hi! My name is Matthew, and I'm currently a student at a top liberal arts college in the United States. I'll be graduating this spring, and I'm hoping to work in the education field in the future. Since I was 14, I've been working in educational settings every summer, and I love working with kids and helping them learn and grow. I would like to become an au pair to get to continue this work in a new country, with new people, and new surroundings. I love to learn about how people are educated in different countries, so getting to be a part of a child's experience, and getting to help them with homework and after school activities is something I have always hoped to do. I love to put 110% into everything I do, and make the most impact I can on people's lives -- including your kids'!

Experience

While I have never worked as an au pair, I do have significant experience caring for children in school and home settings. I have worked in depth with children with autism and other disabilities both in a school setting and at home (my brother has autism as well as a seizure disorder). When I was younger, I often babysat for kids in my hometown. I have also worked as a teacher and teacher's assistant, and have designed my own courses that are based on children's interests in topics such as theater, engineering/design, photography, and music. I would like to become an au pair abroad because I love to learn about new cultures, and work with children. Being an au pair merges both of those interests -- I would get to work with kids, and learn about a new place!
