Letter to the family

My name is Lily, and I am beyond excited at the possibility of becoming an Au Pair! I come from a small coastal town in Queensland, Australia, where the beach and lakes have shaped my love for the outdoors, adventure, and connecting with people. I am taking a gap year next year to explore, immerse myself in new cultures, and meet incredible individuals along the way—what better way to do that than by becoming an Au Pair?

I have experience working with children in fun and engaging environments, such as at camps, birthday parties, and through my volunteer work at a local theatre. These experiences have strengthened my ability to nurture, entertain, and support kids while ensuring they feel valued and encouraged in their everyday lives. I believe childhood should be filled with joy, creativity, and discovery, and I am eager to bring that energy into your home.

As an extroverted, social, and bubbly person, I thrive in environments where I can connect with others and contribute positively to their lives. You should consider hosting me because I bring enthusiasm, warmth, and a genuine dedication to ensuring your children feel safe, happy, and inspired every day. Whether it's organizing activities, helping with routines, or simply being a dependable presence, I am committed to making your family’s experience rewarding.

I qualify for this position not only because of my childcare experience but also because of my passion for travel, cultural exchange, and fostering meaningful connections. I am adaptable, responsible, and always ready to bring a sense of fun and adventure into the lives of those around me.

Experience

I have worked with children aged 5–12 in various volunteer settings, each of which has helped me develop strong leadership, communication, and child-support skills. One of the most impactful experiences has been my time with the Head2Heart program, a day camp dedicated to supporting disadvantaged children. I was paired one-on-one with a young girl, guiding her through activities, encouraging her to engage with others, and helping her build confidence. Watching her slowly open up and end the day laughing reinforced how powerful patience and kindness can be in helping a child feel safe and included.

I’ll be returning as a volunteer for a three-day overnight Head2Heart camp in September, an opportunity that will allow me to develop these skills even further. Additionally, I have volunteered at a local community theatre program, assisting with weekly workshops for children aged 5–12. I frequently stepped into leadership roles, ensuring every child felt included, supported, and confident enough to express themselves creatively.

I am taking a gap year to travel and gain a better sense of who I am and what I want to do in the future. While I’m still deciding on my career path, I know that working with children is something I deeply enjoy, and I hope to pursue a future in either education or occupational therapy. Becoming an Au Pair feels like the perfect next step—it allows me to combine my passion for childcare with my love for learning, cultural exchange, and forming meaningful connections.
