Letter to the family

Hello! I am a 21-year-old student from Ukraine. During the Erasmus semester in Belgium, I had a chance to travel for a bit. I still remember the first time I came to the Netherlands.. Remember the good time in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and most beloved The Hague. Remember the orange t-shirts, fireworks, and the excited screams when there was a win in the quarter-finals at the Euro 2024 football championship. There is so much to remember - and hopefully, much more ahead.

I have found out about Au Pair through a friend. Nothing has ever given me more sparks in the eyes than the thought of making it happen. Having grown up as the oldest among the siblings, I went through the number of childcare phases: from changing the diapers to witnessing the brother's first pre-teenage love.. I feel excited to relive the precious moments; thrilled to be the part of my future host family.

Experience

I am the oldest daughter (21) who has two younger siblings: brother (13), sister (12). I was around 8-9 when learning how to take care of a child as my mother needed to be back to work soon after giving birth. Fun began when, soon after, a little sister was born. As two of them grew up together, they started having baby fights. That was when I knew it's time for sleep. Then school began along with hours of learning how to read and count. That required some smooth work to switch from a mentor to a caretaker and then, finally, an older sister: or perhaps, learn how to be 3 in 1. Pre-teenage years became most precious to me. Even though we spent less time together (due to the studies), those were the moments close to the heart whenever we could watch a movie, chat and laugh, or share the things on our heart with each other.

I dream of becoming an Au Pair abroad for two reasons. First: I want to re-experience the beauty of childcare and witness the precious moments it gives to the soul. Second: I want to immerse myself in the Dutch culture and share my own along with the bond I could build with my future hosting family.
