Hello, Host Family

My name is Raiane but you can call me Ray, I’m Brazilian and I’m 24 years old. I live with my mom in Camaragibe a town close to Recife-Pernambuco since I was born and I have two brothers, one of them lives in São Paulo and the other one lives close to me and my mom. My parents are divorced, so I’m closer to my mom. We have a dog called Toby, I love him and he is part of our family.

Now I’m finishing my graduation in chemistry at the University Federal Rural of Pernambuco in Brazil and I work searching in a lab there, which is very cool and I’ve been learning a lot.

Since I was a child I have a dream of traveling the world to know new places, people, culture and snow (Because we don’t have snow in Brazil haha), because of my dream I started learning English by my own and found out about the Au Pair program.

I’ve learned a lot while taking care of children, I learned about respect, other cultures of education, patience, responsibility and I know that I still have a lot to learn. I’m sure that I am going to teach and also learn with the kids. I want to be their big sister and part of your Family, and I want you can be comfortable with my presence. I hope to see you soon.

Experience

I have been taking care of children since I was 14 years old because a friend of my mom was working and she needed someone to look after her child until she come back, so she used to bring her daughter to our house in the morning and I used to look after her until I go to school in the afternoon.

I liked the kid so much that I felt like I was her big sister and in addiction to it I learned how changing diapers, preparing baby formula/food and feeding them, preparing baths and putting them to bed. After that kid I cared of other kids from other friends of my mom, and I got a lot of experiences with children from 2 months old and above.

I got so interested about that program because I could do everything that I dreamed while I do something that I love, that is taking care of children and being around them and in addition to it I could continue studying and improving my English and I could be able to get my master’s degree in my field of study later when I come back to my country.
