My experience as an aupair in the Netherlands was memorable, it was full of fun and excitement - also a lot of challenges, by being away from my family and to add the home sick. Being in a foreign country for the first time was very hard, there are lots of changes, culture shock, people, food and seasons. Most specially when I don't have any family or friends to go to - but I managed all that. I can say it will take a month or two to adopt the changes but once you're on the adaptability stage it will change your perspective. I was able to love what I'm doing especially around with the kids and starting to make new friends.

Being an aupair is not only about fun and meeting new people/friends, it's all about responsibility, being reliable and trustworthy. It's a bit challenging around children so we need to be patient and understanding.

I want to become an aupair because I want to engage in a culture and experience living in a foreign country for me to be more independent and to live outside from my comfort zone, to experience a tradition that is new and also to attend language course - an opportunity for me to learn new skills. Last but not the least, to see new places and to explore the country.
