Letter to the family

My name is Amelia, I am 20 years old, and from New Zealand. I am currently studying speech and language therapy at the University of Canterbury. I have a summer holiday break from the 15th of November 2024 to the 17th of February 2025, so I am looking to be an au pair overseas during all/part of this time. I want to become an aupair for children and I am also open to being a caregiver for elderly. I would love to get more experience with connecting to people of all ages. When I graduate as a speech and language therapy in 2026 this will be a crucial part of my future jobs, so I would love to get more experience, as well as more experience living abroad.

Experience

I have had 5 years of experience babysitting and am currently a nanny for two boys during the school terms, which I have done for the past two years. My current nannying job has given me further experience with looking after children along with housework, such as baking, cooking, washing, cleaning, etc. I have no preference for age, gender, etc either.

Due to my experience with babysitting, nannying, and university placements, I find it comes naturally to connect with children, and I love seeing the way that they communicate and think. When I graduate with my degree I want to be working with children, whether that is in a clinical setting or at schools, so I hope to gain an even greater understanding of children with this experience.
