Letter to the family

Bonjour,

My name is Jessa and I am from New Zealand.
I am a 23 year old female, who has a passion for culinary (all things food, dining out, and baking etc), outdoors, running, swimming, reading and spending time with friends and family. I have lived in New Zealand all of my life and have been flatting away from home for the past four years which I love (Much to my parents sadness!).
In 2024 I completed a 3-year Bachelor of Arts in Business Psychology and I have been learning french for the past 3-4 years. Both of these academic endeavours have been incredibly enjoyable, and I had gained academic achievement across my university studies.

At the age of 8 years old I started with the St John Youth Programme. Within New Zealand, St John is the leading emergency ambulance service for the Country. Throughout my time in the Youth Programme, I achieved many awards on a local, national and international level, and this is where I have started my main form of employment. Throughout my time with St John, I have held roles in 111 Communication, Clinical Support, Culture and Capability, and Community Engagement. I have throughly enjoyed these roles and the experiences that have come with this. I am currently still employment with St John.

Within a volunteer capacity I am the International and National Chairperson on the St John Youth Advisory Networks, and the National Young Person portfolio lead for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. In my paid roles, I am a Community Engagement Coordinator for Canterbury region (A lot of public speaking, project management, organisation, public relations) and the National Reward and Belonging Coordinator (Volunteer sustainability - over 8,000 volunteers nationwide, presentations, strategy work, DEI focus work).

I am incredibly passionate about advocacy, people, youth, wellbeing, and culture.

Family has always been incredibly important to me and coming from a large family, with Italian heritage, I am used to the chaos and fun that large families bring. I have a passion for learning, travelling and meeting new people.

Experience

As mentioned above, I have a very large family, and young children have always been an important part of my life. Alongside this, my mother was a Nanny to three children for 17 years which I always enjoyed helping her with and gained a lot of experience from this.

Within my involvement with the St John Youth Programme, I was responsible for planning and running divisional nights and camps for large groups of children aged between 8 -18 years old. I was also the National Youth Ambassador in 2020 which further highlights my interest with working and developing young people.

I have held many babysitting roles, and hold a babysitting certificate. I am first aid trained and also have my mental health first aid certificate as well. I hold a clean, New Zealand full drivers licence and have lots of experience driving in residential, city, rural and open roads.

I am most interested in Au Pairing in France as I have been learning french and wanting to embrace the language and culture.
