Letter to the family

My name is Chiara, I’m 23 years old, and I’m Italian. I come from a large family: I have three sisters. I was born and raised in a small village in the countryside, and the memories of my childhood are really happy: surrounded by greenery with my wonderful family, among the vegetable garden, fruit trees, and animals. After high school, I moved away from home to study Environmental Biotechnology near Rome.
Right after graduating, I decided to apply for a Working Holiday visa in Australia, and I’m now in my eleventh month in Sydney. My experience here is about to end, but my desire to see the world, meet new people, and visit new places is far from over.
I’m a person full of energy, imaginative, hands-on, and creative. I also consider myself responsible and caring. I started working at 16, first in the restaurant industry and later as a volunteer at local youth centres. I love children, which is why, as soon as I turned 18, I started babysitting and working as a camp counsellor in summer camps.

Experience

I don’t consider working with children a job, because it’s my happy place. I believe I have a natural talent for this, as I’ve been taking care of children for over six years, and there’s nothing that fulfils me more. I’m a very cheerful person, a happy girl who is grateful for life, with solid foundations thanks to my beautiful and large family.
Why do it abroad? Because I believe that stepping out of your comfort zone helps develop the mind and fosters growth. I come from a small village with only a few inhabitants, and I’ve always felt suffocated by it. That’s why I want to combine my two greatest passions: traveling and working with children.
