Alma (22 / Ms. ), Danish, Child Care Worker living in Denmark looking for Au Pair & Nanny job in Australia, France, Netherlands, USA & United Kingdom for 3-12 Months

I started babysitting in 2015 and have been working with multiple families for the past 8 years. The first family I worked with had two amazing children at the age of 6 and 3, who I picked up from school twice a week and took care of for a couple of hours. I had great communication with the parents, and I stayed with that family for five years. During those five years I also babysat two girls from my area once a week in the evening.
From 2020-2021 I decided to focus on school, but after I graduated high school in June 2021 I started babysitting a 3 year old girl with special needs. It was a learning experience and we grew a close bond, but unfortunately her mother couldn't afford a babysitter in the long run.
Since I graduated high school I have worked in a kindergarten and nursery, which I have really enjoyed. During the two years I have been given several assignments, which has required a broad overview, creativity and accountability. I have been responsible for various creative projects as well as preparatory work for the children's school. I organized a self-image course to build their confidence and to recognize their perspectives, ideas and individuality. I did essential language tests of the children, which is passed on to their future schools, but it is also used in our work to further develop their vocabulary. I have also been responsible for meetings with parents, which has improved my communication and cooperative skills.

In September 2023 I started my first year in university, and I am almost done with my first semester in sociology. I currently work with two families, one with a 3 year old girl and one with a 9 year old boy with special needs, where I am hired by Copenhagen Municipality. I look after each of them once or twice a week. The cooperation with the parents is very pleasant, and I feel that I am a reliable and helpful addition to their families. I also work as a on-call substitute at the kindergarten and nursery that I have been hired at for the past two years.

I can honestly say that I want to work with children, and that it's been a passion of mine for years now. However, I want to seek new knowledge and experiences and I feel like being an au pair abroad would be just the right opportunity for me to develop and for me to keep working with something that I love. I am planning on taking a study leave for a year in summer of 2024 or beginning of 2025, which is why I seek an au pair job around that time.
