I am the oldest of 7 granddaughters so have a wealth of childcare experience especially with my youngest sister who, while my parents were at work I would take her to school and pick her up from school so I am very familiar with the school run. While doing this on weekends there would be an activity and lunches and dinners. With the rest of the grandchildren being the oldest granddaughter this involved lots of trust as I would help look after them if there parents needed to go out etc. This involved the basic tasks of playing with them, dinner and their bed time routines.
At school I was Head Girl and this involved bringing the primary school children to secondary school and me and my team having to lead that was so important as I now know first hand how to deal with kids thoughts and emotions and how kids can get through difficult situations and how important it is to be there for them. This leadership role really shapes me and helped my ability to develop skills like time management, communication, understanding and how to plan outing and other events.
I understand that being an au pair sometimes means helping with household tasks. I have experience of this nasty I used to clean in a hotel to help out so I understand if you want a deep clean or a simple tidy. Whatever task I am willing to do to help out the family.
I am currently learning to drive so I’m unsure of if I will have my licence or not but I also am from a family with a lot of dogs which i also looked after with a lot of kids so I am comfortable with a dog friendly household. I speak fluent English and would like to learn a new language and would love to help kids learn English while also helping myself learn a bit of the language too.
