Letter to the family

Hello! I am Dalynne and I am 19 years of age. I am originally from South Africa, Johannesburg, but moved to Düsseldorf, Germany right after high school and I have been working as an Au pair for 7 months. My reason for moving abroad straight after High school was because I wanted to and still do want to broaden my horizon as much as I can. Hard work and resilience are two of the many skills I learnt in my home growing up and I continue to carry it with me throughout my everyday life. I would like to continue au pairing after my 12 month contract in germany has ended, as it is a way for me to bridge the gap between the start of the year and September which is when I plan on starting my tertiary education journey. I think I am a good au pair not only because I already have experience but also because I am trustworthy, very good at communication, I am emotionally intelligent, I enjoy learning and growing from others which is a huge part of what being an au pair is about and because I am a natural nurturer.

Experience

My experience as an Au Pair in Germany has been wonderful. The start of my experience was a bit difficult, taking into consideration the fact that I moved away from home so young and so soon after finishing highschool. I had a hard time finding my footing, which is very normal but thankfully after a few months It felt easier and I was able to find my space in this new space. Being an au pair abroad is an amazing experience to learn about oneself, see the world, experience a different culture and way of living and continue growing as a person which is exactly what my first 7 months as an au pair has done for me.
