Letter to the family
Hi I’m Kalani, a young adult from Western Australia. I grew up in a small coastal town and have a love for the ocean and farming culture. I am extremely passionate about sports specifically playing netball, snowboarding and watching Australian rules football and soccer (mainly Arsenal). My love for travel has created my appreciation for the Earth having visited Cocos Islands, Singapore, Indonesia, Japan, and HongKong, plus many cities around Australia. I have always wanted to visit London and in the near future go to Cambodia to volunteer at an orphanage owned by my aunt and uncle. I’ve recently graduated from High School which i believe were the best years of my life. I have a passion for learning and thrive in an environment like that. I have worked in hospitality and since 2023 have worked as a casual employee at a childcare service. I enjoy going to work everyday as I am passionate about shaping younger generations to ensure the future is in safe hands. I am extremely competitive, responsible, compassionate and determined. I have a love for shopping and am always getting in trouble from my parents for the amount of packages i have on the way.
I want to become an Au Pair and Nanny as I love working with children. They bring such a positive light with their curiosity and they have such creative open-minds. I had an amazing childhood and was so well supported and i would love to help other children grow up the same way i did. I have a natural ability to connect with children ans find it incredibly rewarding helping them learn and grow. It would be an incredible opportunity to support them as they grow emotionally and intellectually whilst creating a meaningful relationship.
I provide many skills. I am creative, well-organised, responsible and self-sufficient. I take pride in coming up with new ways to be entertained which stemmed from my childhood when I would spend hours making skits and playing with homemade creations. I take pride in having to do lists and schedules. I feel a lot better when my living area is clean and i have a clear plan in place. I take pride in arriving to places on time. I also find cooking as an outlet for stress and love experimenting with new foods. I eat everything. I know how to do washing, care for pets, and can manage multiple tasks at once. I understand being a nanny requires trust and I strive to be accountable and dependable. I also believe in addressing and issues that arise and tackling them head-on. I also take initiative without needing constant supervision. I find solutions efficiently and quickly. I require minimal guidance and pick new things up easily.
I believe i qualify for the position due to my combination of skills and passion for caring for children. Over the past 2 years i have gained hands on experience in many aspects of child-care. I have worked in the kitchen, with babies, toddlers and school aged children. I also do one shift a week cleaning and organising the centre. I plan and engage children in activities and mange their daily routines. I have also taken them on excursions outside of the centre which means I understand their adventurous side. My ability to adapt and solve problems allows me to handle the dynamic nature of child-care.
