Letter to the family

Dear host family

My name is Joanna . I am from Johannesburg, South Africa. I am 27 years old and graduated with distinction in Biochemistry (with honours). I have a passion for science with training in metabolomics research. I too am an avid learner of culture where I believe that food together with social interaction; helps us to connect and learn about each other. I am currently living with a family in County Dublin, Ireland on a temporary basis. So far, I have had a great deal of fun minding their children (5-year-old & 9-year-old) as well as helping around the house.

Why do I want to become an au pair?

I have been known by others to be empathic, a listener, a quick learner, patient, friendly and motivated. Being an aupair would give me a chance to learn more about Irish culture and gain experience as a carer. I have had additional experience with children including tutoring primary school children.

Why should you host me?

I have a keen interest in obtaining my postgraduate certificate in education. Gaining experience as a child-minder or caregiver would help me work towards my goal.

With regards to first aid, I have had experience as a South African paramedic assistant in 2013. I will be aiming to obtain my first aid certificate again in the following months to come.
