Letter to the family

Dear future hosts!

Let me introduce myself. I grew up in Somerset, South West of England, in a very small country village. I have been lucky enough to grow up in a loving and large family of six, I love to return home to the country but currently I live independently in Edinburgh, Scotland. I am a 23 year old, second year University of Edinburgh student, currently undergoing my English and History degree. This academic year I elected to learn French as an extra course, I have found the challenge really fulfilling and would love to take this experience further by au pairing in France or with a French speaking family.

In terms of my own professional experience, over the course of five years I have worked extensively within the hospitalities industry. On top of this I also have experience within childcare, notably, I became a live in nanny for 10 months as maternity cover in 2016 and hosted families on vacation in the French resort of Tignes for 10 months in 2017.

I am a sporty, fun, loving and confident person, raring and willing to take any opportunity to learn new skills and travel. I am always looking for new challenges and learning opportunities, and meeting new people along the way is the icing on the cake!!

Experience

As previosly mentioned, in 2016 my job roll included but was not limited to looking after two children, one of which was preschool age and therefore required full-day care. I would have loved to have stayed longer with the children, for it was such a special time in my life, however I was there to cover maternity leave. This being said, what came next did not disappoint. In 2018 I spent a year as a chalet host in the French Alps, being responsible for a ten person chalet, I perfected my cooking, hosting, cleaning, and people skills, all whilst living in the most beautiful place, and experiencing everything the mountains had to offer- it was a dream come true. It was in 2019 I began my degree at Edinburgh University.

I strongly believe that it is not necessarily my experience that will make me a great au pair, but more importantly my character and personality. In everyday life, I am always trying to do my best to help others, remain positive, motivated, reliable, empathetic and organised; these are the skills I believe will help me most in an au pair role. I love to meet new people, find new places and experience new things, so being an au pair would allow me to tick all of those boxes.

Travel is such an important part of my life, I love to explore new countries, cities, towns, and hidden gems. Au pairing I hope will allow me to experience new cultures and places in a whole new, and rewarding way.
