Letter to the family

Hi!

I'm Signe, an outgoing, happy and caring student from Sweden. I am graduating from "gymnasiet" the Swedish version of highschool in the beginning of June and will be able to work from then. I am currently studying social science but after a gap year I hope to be able to study architecture. I live with my family, my mom who works at Stockholm university, dad who works as a management consultant. As well as my sister who works and travels at the moment, I also have a brother but he just moved out to continue studying at University. After graduating I would love to work for half a year or a bit more and then travel. I love traveling and have been to many countries, I think the cultural changes are the best part about it. How people live, what they eat, how the cities are built and things as simple as what the grocery stores look like.

Outside of school which I'm still attending at the moment I enjoy doing many things, for example sports and making small crafts. I've played basketball nearly my entire life, I got drafted for the youth national team the first time when i was 15 and since then I've been drafted once or twice a year. Although my big focus in basketball I enjoy other sports as well such as swimming and all kinds of ball sports among others. I also love just hanging out with friends, go for a coffee after school and talk about everything that's going on in our lives. When I want to de-stress I enjoy sitting down and read a book by myself. Books are a big part of my life and I almost only read in English, I find the story getting more interesting and myself getting deeper into the book that way.

I would love to be an au pair, everything from living in another country to taking care of kids is something i really enjoy doing!

Experience

I've never been an au pair but I've been babysitting since I was 14. I've been babysitting for my neighbors for about three years on a weekly basis, they have two boys one who was 3 and one who was 9 at the beginning of babysitting them. This concludes, picking them up from school and daycare, playing with them, helping them with homework, cooking both lunch and dinners. I've also helped them get to bed, meaning, cleaning them, brushing their teeth and reading a bed time story until they fall asleep. Since i was with that family for so long I also have experience in changing diapers. I have also worked at a daycare for a summer where

I love taking care of kids and I specifically would love to become an au pair abroad for the cultural exchange I would get as well. I have always loved the english language and feel that being an au pair abroad would help me further my knowledge and deeper understanding of the language. I also worked for a daycare center during a summer, I helped with a group of both 3-4 year olds as well as 5-6 year old group.

I have always enjoyed babysitting because I find children's imagination so enriching. I enjoy playing around and making up games as well as read a bed time story. As of working with children I have been babysitting for my neighbors, family friends and cousins. I babysat at my neighbors for about three years; that included picking them up from school and making them dinner. When my family are having dinner guests over and they bring the whole family I'm often the one to entertain the kids or watch a movie with them after dinner.
