Letter to the family

Hello dear family,

Greetings from Alejandra in Colombia. I am 26 years old. I want to tell you that I love children and I wish to experience being an Au Pair with a family that gives me the privilege of supporting them in their daily activities with their children. I live in Medellín, the city of eternal spring, known for its pleasant climate and the kindness of its people, as well as its delicious cuisine, with one of my favorite dishes being the bandeja paisa. I am part of a community where I am preparing to be an Au Pair by participating in workshops on psychopedagogy, neuroeducation, and pedagogy.

I am a very responsible, organized, and creative person. I like to be methodical, so I usually plan my day-to-day activities. I have many goals and dreams to achieve, so I hope to step out of my comfort zone, explore the whole world, and find a better version of myself. Among my social group, I am known for being a calm, patient, kind, tender, and good-hearted person. I always try to do my work with a lot of love and dedication. I value and enjoy the simple things in life.

At home, there are three of us: my mom Martha, my little dog Rocky, and me. My dad David lives in a city near Medellín, and my sister Estefany, my brother-in-law Felipe, and my nephew Cristóbal live in Chile. My family is small, but it is full of love despite the distance. I consider them the most important people in my life.

Currently, I am taking a course on pedagogical principles for Au Pairs. I am also attending workshops on child pedagogy to learn how to enhance children's abilities. I completed a first aid course and enrich my knowledge with literature about parenting and child development. I studied dentistry, so I can contribute to children's oral health and hygiene, and I am currently finishing my training as a financial administrator.

What I enjoy most in my free time is enhancing my artistic skills and anything that stimulates my creativity, such as painting, drawing, and sculpting. I also enjoy nature and the tranquility of the mountains, so hiking is one of my favorite hobbies. I like to travel and discover new places, and I enjoy listening to music, especially classic rock in both English and Spanish.

Regarding my experience with young children, I must highlight that from an early age I have shown interest in caring for them. During school, I was part of a youth group that carried out pedagogical activities with younger children, such as drawing, painting, singing, and dancing, all focused on learning. During my teenage years, I had the opportunity to work as a recreation leader, which is a great advantage as I acquired many tools to entertain the little ones, helping me spend enjoyable times with your children. Through the games and fun I have learned to manage, I can teach your children and have fun-filled afternoons and weekends by organizing activities that will ensure they have a great time. Additionally, I have had the opportunity to care for the children of my family and friends from when they were babies until they became older children. I can say that I have been part of all stages of their growth and development. Currently, I help my cousin take care of her 2-year-old daughter; I feed her, help her take naps, play with her, listen to children's songs, and dance. Sometimes, I help take care of my best friend's 3-year-old son; I take him to daycare, we go to the park, play, and have a lot of fun together.

What motivates me the most is the idea of living with a family from a culture different from mine, to learn about their customs and traditions, and to teach them mine. Additionally, I want to support you with the care and development of your children, helping with daily tasks and their growth. I believe this experience will greatly contribute to my life project, as it will help me discover and develop new skills in coexistence and adaptation, among others.

My native language is Spanish and I am studying English, currently at an intermediate level.

One of my biggest expectations is to fit in very well with my host family, to win the children's hearts, and to build an excellent bond with them, providing them with lots of love, learning, laughter, fun, and good company. I also hope to significantly improve my English and fulfill one of my greatest dreams: to see the Northern Lights and travel around Europe.

I love nature, art, and animals. I take care of my physical and emotional health, so I try to stay in good shape by exercising and eating healthily.

I hope to meet you soon.

With love,
Alejandra
