Letter to the family

Hello! My name is Taylor , I am originally from Colorado but currently living in Atlanta, Georgia for college. I chose to move across the country for college to play soccer and am currently on my second year with the women’s soccer team at Clayton State University. I’m currently working on a major in Psychology with minors in both Studio Art and Film. I come from a big family, I am the youngest of four siblings (all girls), but I secretly always wished for a brother. At home we have two dogs and two cats, I love them all dearly. Working in a home with pets would be a big plus! I would love to become an Au Pair and Live-in Tutor because I am interested in getting out to see the world in a way that would allow me to become immersed in the culture, rather than just acting as a tourist. I believe being an Au Pair would be that cultural opportunity.

As for Live-in Tutor, I would be a great candidate to teach your children English, as I am a native speaker, but also because English was always my best subject in school. On my ACT (a big American standardized test), I received a score of 34 out of 36 total possible points in the English section. Even though English was my best subject in school, I have always been in honors programs my whole school life. Even throughout college I have maintained a high GPA, keeping me in academic honors.

My ability to be a great Live-in Tutor for your children is amplified by the fact that I also have a lot of experience teaching children already. For the past two years I have been teaching kids (with ages ranging anywhere from 4-15 years old) soccer. However, more than just coaching the basics of soccer, I also help them to learn beneficial life skills, such as teamwork and positive communication. I plan on using everything I’ve learned and my overall experience with these children to benefit my future experiences with your children.

Experience

As of right now, I currently have no experience as an Au Pair. However, I do not see this as a draw back. As I mentioned earlier, I play on the women’s soccer team for my university. My team is a majority of foreign girls with only 5 out of 23 girls on the team being American. Through this team I have been able to experience so many cultures already and it continues to drive my desire to get out and experience the world as I see my teammates doing. Besides wanting to be a part of the Au Pair program as a way to experience new cultures, I also believe it would be a very rewarding opportunity. Being a Psychology major, I have learned so much about basic human behavior and ways in which to treat others. I chose to pursue Psychology as I believed it would be a rewarding career because of the way it focuses on helping others. The Au Pair program does just that as well.
