Letter to the family

My name is Mayla, I am 19 years old and graduated from the Gutenhalde Waldorf School near Stuttgart in July. Since I really enjoy working with children and regularly look after children or give them tutoring in my private life, I am looking for a job as an au pair for 2-6 months, possibly longer.

I already worked as an au pair in France last year and am now looking for a job in Turkey to learn Turkish. My mother is German, my father has Turkish roots. Both are architects. I have a younger sister (17 years old) and we live in a house near Stuttgart with two cats.

I would describe myself as open-minded, cheerful and creative. In my free time I like to go to the gym, surf, climb, paint, cook and bake. I enjoy meeting new people, getting actively involved and gaining new experiences. I also speak English very well, as I did a student exchange in the USA for 6 months in 2022. I have also had a driver's license since May 2023.

I particularly like working as an au pair because it allows me to combine my love of children, new cultures and languages, and the joy of new environments.

Experience

I have already gained valuable experience as an au pair. Last year I worked in France, where I was not only able to improve my language skills, but also experience the culture intensively. I enjoyed looking after and supporting the children on a daily basis, and I was able to further develop my skills in raising and caring for children.

In addition, I regularly looked after children and gave tutoring in my free time. These activities have shown me how important patience, empathy, and creativity are when dealing with children. My varied experiences have strengthened my belief that working with children is my passion.

My motivation for staying in Turkey is to learn Turkish and get to know the culture of my paternal roots better. It is important to me to experience the Turkish way of life and traditions first hand while improving my language skills. An au pair stay in Turkey offers me the ideal opportunity to combine my love of childcare with my interest in new cultures and languages.
