Dear Host Family,

My name is Darcey, I am 19 years old, and I come from England, both of my parents are South African. I am warm, responsible, and open-minded with a genuine love for children and a strong desire to experience life in a new culture.

I completed A Levels in 2024 and have spent the past year working and traveling where possible as well as helping my own family at home.

You should consider hosting me because I am a kind, respectful, and dependable person who understands the importance of being a positive role model for children. I am also patient and adaptable — two qualities that are essential in a household with young ones. I will treat your home with the utmost respect and your children with love and care, as if they were my own family.

More than anything, I am excited about the chance to be part of your family's life, to support your children in their daily routines and growth, and to share a bit of my own culture while learning about yours. I hope to build a strong, respectful, and joyful relationship with you and your children.

Experience

I have never Au Paired or nannied however I have worked as a babysitter for family friends and also helped out a childminder for a couple of weeks with young children by helping on the school run as well as keeping them entertained and happy throughout the day. On top of this my younger cousin is 9 now and whenever our families get together I am on babysitting duty which I rather enjoy - he is often much more entertaining than the adult conversations!
I want to become an au pair because I enjoy working with children and want to experience life in a new culture. My main motivation is to grow personally, and gain independence while contributing meaningfully to a host family. The goal of my stay is to learn, help, and be part of a different way of life—something I see as a unique and valuable opportunity at this stage in my life.
